Reptile, Amphibian & Fish Conservation Netherlands (RAVON) is a non-governmental organization (NGO) with close to two thousand volunteers and 30 members of staff at the offices in Nijmegen and Amsterdam.
Apart from protecting reptile, amphibian and freshwater fish species and their habitats, we are helping to increase public awareness of these animal groups. Volunteers play a crucial role in our work, whether by collecting data or carrying out conservation measures; they are organized into regional working groups or species specialist groups.
We are primarily financed by our consultancy work. RAVON carries out research for a wide variety of clients, including governmental organizations at local, regional and national level, civil authorities, water boards, land owners, land managers and private companies. The advice we give concerns species occurring in locations ranging from the urban environment to nature reserves.
